REFINING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHIC VISION
Stay at King Bethune House in downtown Peterborough and participate in an excellent photography workshop held in the countryside 15 minutes away, at Golden Pathways, a retreat Bed and Breakfast. Return at the end of your workshop day to downtown where you can find entertainment and dinner at one of the many restaurants within a few minutes walk.
SPARK Photo Festival opens 1 April and continues through the month to 30 April in celebration of photography. There are 65 exhibits, numerous receptions, social events to meet the artists, workshops and gatherings to bring people together in celebration and appreciation of photography. Most everything is free with the exception of workshops which are intended to help photographers hone their craft. One workshop weekend is a special event which combines staying in our B&B's and taking a workshop with Randall Romano, an photographer with unique and powerful photographic vision.
Let us know your arrival time as checkin at King Bethune House is flexible, as early as is convenient to you. Maps, driving directions and helpful information is included. King Bethune House is in downtown Peterborough, close to restaurants, services, and trails and parks. (Taxes apply to room rates at King Bethune House but not to the workshop which includes taxes.)

Creating meaningful images that successfully communicate your personal vision is essential to becoming a good photographer. This two-day seminar combines in classroom instruction and fieldwork to increase your abilities as a photographer. In the field the seminar gives the photographer access to 198 acres of Central Ontario wilderness nestled along the Otonabee River. Habitat includes mature hardwood forest, marshland, riverbanks, and rolling farmlands. There is also a cabin and outhouse that can be utilized in the field. Golden Pathways B+ B provides a fabulous base for the seminar, providing the property, classroom and nutritious food to keep our energy levels high.
The seminar price without overnight accommodation is $159.00/person. Included in this price is:
o Friday evenings presentation (7 to 9pm): How to Be an Effectual Photographer.
Saturdays early morning field session 6 to 10am. Participants will be able to ramble around the 198-acre property making images at will. Randy will be on site to help and direct. This session includes a boxed breakfast to take into the field coffee and a snack will be provided at 10am at the cabin.
Saturday 10:30am to 12:00pm: Photography exercises in the field to improve your vision.
Saturday 12:15 to 1:45. Lunch provided at Golden Pathways.
Saturday 1:45 to 2:15. How to be a better Editor of your work
Saturday 2:15 to 4:00. Editing and Discussion of Images.
Saturday 4 to 5pm. Free Time to explore the Golden Pathways rolling hills and grounds.
Saturday 5pm workshop ends.
Optional dinner ($30 per person) provided by Golden Pathways, including evening bonfire.
Essential gear for participants to bring: A digital camera and all accessories necessary for making images. Good sturdy footwear for wilderness conditions. Weather related clothing such as hats, gloves. A laptop computer for downloading and editing images (although one will be on site). Cell phone for field contacts if necessary.
This package includes the SPARK Visioning Workshop, accommodation and breakfast at King Bethune House from Friday night to Sunday (two nights) with an additional night if you wish.
